Texting with Delaney

Standard

“All right then. I’ll meet you by the main gate. See you then.” She ended the conversation, and as soon as she did, a text from Delaney appeared.APumpkinKindofLove-200x300
Are you ok?
Other than a ruined batch of cookies and agreeing to go out with Royce, I’m fine.
What? Royce who?
Royce Browning. He was in my class.
Oh, yeah. He was on the football team, wasn’t he?
Yes. Baseball too. I checked in yearbook. He asked me out.
What? No way!!!!
I said yes.
You can’t do this. Not when the hottest guy in town is after you.
Huh?
Grayson. He likes you.
Well I don’t like him.
If that’s the case, you’d better win that contest.
Oh, shit, please tell me she hadn’t heard about the wager with Grayson.
You heard about that?
Do crows caw? You betcha. Whatever possessed you to do that?
Allison sighed. If this was the pits of hell, she’d already fallen in and was rapidly proceeding deeper.
I was angry, okay? Frost chewed me out about the flowers. I couldn’t help myself.
Losing wouldn’t be such a bad thing, you know.
Who’s side are you on?
Yours of course.
Then why are you giving me a hard time?
Cause Grayson is a catch.
I’ve gotta go. Ttyl.
Allison ended the texting session and sat back in her chair. Yep, this had spiraled out of control like a top gone crazy.

Why Jasmine Lane?

Standard

I was doing an author takeover this morning, and was asked the question, what is Jasmine Lane? I’m going to vary that question to the title of this blog.

Several years ago, when I decided I wanted to write a romance, I had a model in Debbie Macomber’s Blossom Street series, which revolves around a flower shop on Blossom Street.cropped-candycandkisses_200x3002.jpg

Okay, I love to cross stitch, so I would incorporate that into the story. And I had the model of a shop in Venice, Fla. that I could use fictionally. So there. All I needed now was a street.

So why Jasmine Lane?

I didn’t want the street to be in the main shopping district, and ideally, my idea was to set it in a residential setting that could be the springboard for other stories. Choosing the name was more difficult, and I finally settled on Jasmine because it sounded Florida, and a lane, to me, sounded residential.

So now you have the back story to the name of the series.

A Pumpkin Kind of Love

Standard

Coming this October! A Pumpkin Kind of Love.

Allison Kirby wants more from life than the tedium offered by her job in a call center.

Specifically, she wants a loving husband, a family, and a better job. When Allison enters a pumpkin carving contest on a whim, she’s up against the smug and confident Grayson Palmer.

While sparks and pumpkin guts fly, can they avoid carving into each other and instead sculpt something even better?

It’s Sunday

Standard

Well, you already know that, but I couldn’t think of a better title.sunday_040

This day started out rather gloomy looking. I thought we were going to get more rain, as we had a welcome downpour yesterday, which we needed. It’s so dry here right now that many counties in the area have declared bans on open burning to prevent wildfires from starting. And we’re still 53 days away from the start of our rainy season, also known as hurricane season.

(After Irma last September, I’m not ready to experience another one.)

So now the sun is shining, and everything is drying out. After I run some errands, my minAPumpkinKindofLove-200x300d is going to turn to pumpkins, autumn, fall leaves and romance. Yes, it’s time to start writing A Pumpkin Kind of Love, due out by October. Here’s the cover Tymber designed for me. What do you think of it?

And later, it’s back to cross stitching to finish the small piece I’m working on right now. You’ll be hearing more about that on my Facebook page shortly.

Have a great Sunday everyone.
