A Pumpkin Kind of Love

Coming this October! A Pumpkin Kind of Love.

Allison Kirby wants more from life than the tedium offered by her job in a call center.

Specifically, she wants a loving husband, a family, and a better job. When Allison enters a pumpkin carving contest on a whim, she’s up against the smug and confident Grayson Palmer.

While sparks and pumpkin guts fly, can they avoid carving into each other and instead sculpt something even better?

It’s Sunday

Well, you already know that, but I couldn’t think of a better title.sunday_040

This day started out rather gloomy looking. I thought we were going to get more rain, as we had a welcome downpour yesterday, which we needed. It’s so dry here right now that many counties in the area have declared bans on open burning to prevent wildfires from starting. And we’re still 53 days away from the start of our rainy season, also known as hurricane season.

(After Irma last September, I’m not ready to experience another one.)

So now the sun is shining, and everything is drying out. After I run some errands, my minAPumpkinKindofLove-200x300d is going to turn to pumpkins, autumn, fall leaves and romance. Yes, it’s time to start writing A Pumpkin Kind of Love, due out by October. Here’s the cover Tymber designed for me. What do you think of it?

And later, it’s back to cross stitching to finish the small piece I’m working on right now. You’ll be hearing more about that on my Facebook page shortly.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Rank stripping

In response to legislation passed last week by Congress, and mostly likely to be signed by President Moron soon, Amazon has proactively stripped the rankings of many authors in the erotica genre. This, I believe, is a cautionary tactic in response to the current environment regarding social media. amazon-logo_black

To my knowledge, Amazon acted without notice to the authors, nor have they made a public statement about the practice.

The net effect, however, will hurt authors in this genre, many of whom are independent. You see, rankings help their sales. The higher the ranking, the more popular the book is, and thus the more sales an author gains.

Please help the indie authors you know by keeping their names out there on social media, letting your friends know about their work, and let’s hope this madness ends soon.

Glory of Autumn

I love to cross stitch. It’s my hobby and a way to relax. My favorite pieces to stitch are usually Christmas related, since it’s my favorite time of the year. But I found this piece, and it reminded me so much of fall in my native Ohio, I just had to do it. So, after a couple of years of off and on stitching, it’s finally done.

Christmas Catalogs

About a week ago, or maybe the week before that, I received a flyer from Target. I didn’t pay  much attention to it at first, but then the cover caught Target Christmas flyermy eye. You see what I mean from the image.

Toys! Christmas toys!

For those of you as old as me, you probably remember the joy of childhood when the Christmas toy catalogs arrived in the mail. My sisters and I would spend hours, just turning pages of this cherished item slowly, reveling in the treasures each page contained.

Dreaming. Wishing. Hoping.

Pens in hand, circling the hints to our parents.

Sears. J.C. Penny. Montgomery Ward. For a child, these were the equivalent of a Bible.

Alas, those are bygone days. But the arrival of this item from Target sure brought back some pleasant memories. Feel free to share your own thoughts.

What the country needs now….

Recent events have shown how fractured, how divided we are as a country. Today, I remembered this old tune. The message is simple, but maybe, just maybe, if we heed the lyrics, there’s hope for us. Take a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cW8Alo_5uI
